NLC Student Lands Full-time Job at Accenture

Matthew Cadena, Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) student, began full-time employment on February 1, 2020, at Accenture. Cadena landed this position after participating in a 10 week (20 hr. a week) paid internship last fall. His Computer Science instructor recommended him for the internship and he says the hands-on experience was invaluable. Cadena worked in applied intelligence and learned to code using the new language Python. He also used prediction modeling, given a set of data,  to write codes specifically for client needs. 

Cadena credits Northeast Lakeview College for preparing him to excel at this internship.  “It provided me proper work ethic mentality by having me complete projects within deadlines and being able to collaborate with others effectively. The faculty at NLC know the fields in which they teach and see the potential in their students.”

“Working with computers just made sense”, says Cadena. He has had a love for computers and their parts for most of his life. He is grateful to have had the opportunity to intern at a company focused in the field where he hopes to be employed. As he begins his full-time employment, Cadena plans to complete his associate degree and transfer to UTSA to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
